"What is an Instant Pot?"
I get asked this question a lot lately. I asked my husband to buy me one for my Valentine's day gift this year, and I have fallen in love!
Why you ask? There are many reasons why, but of course the main reason is because it makes cooking easier! What busy mom doesn't love quick one pot meals, that taste delicious, with minimal clean up? I initially bought an Instant Pot to experiment with certain Korean foods, but I have certainly branched to other types of food, and even dessert! Here are some examples of food that I have made with my Instant Pot!
What is it?
The Instant Pot is an electric pressure cooker, but more advanced than your mother's old stovetop pressure cooker. There are two basic different models, the Instant Pot DUO, and Instant Pot LUX. I own a DUO. There is also a SMART Instant Pot which is a DUO model that can link to your phone.
DUO: it is the 7 in 1 model, which includes a yogurt making function. It also features a better designed lid, that you can hang on the side when you are done cooking.
LUX: is the 6 in 1 model, and lacks the yogurt making function. If you have absolutely no interest in making yogurt, then this model may be best for you, as it is a bit cheaper than the DUO model.
The numbers 80, 60, and 50 denote how many quarts the model holds. For instance, I have the Instant Pot DUO 60, which means my pot has a capacity of 6 quarts.
Why get one?
The Instant Pot may not necessarily cut the amount of time you are cooking your food, but it definently will make cooking easier, with less clean up. As a mother of two young children, I appreciate the value of not babysitting my stove! Instead you can prep your food, put it in your Instant Pot, set your timer, then walk away! Plus, you only have one pot to clean after dinner!
